Hear Brian Topping tell of his many years during the 1970’s and 1980’s as a serving Customs Officer. Brian worked in the former department of HM Customs and Excise at Heathrow Airport. He will provide an interesting, informative and entertaining journey through the many situations he came across. Brian dealt with passengers travelling through the airport and his involvement in apprehending and investigating smugglers.

Peter Gordon has many years experience working in Pathology Laboratories and will give a light hearted talk about his life In the ‘Path Lab’. It is a medical laboratory that focuses on the study and analysis of bodily fluids, tissues, cells, and blood to aid in the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases. They also have an important role to play in preparing for Blood Transfusions. Pathology Labs play a crucial role in healthcare by providing essential diagnostic information to doctors.

Roisin will give a presentation on Liverpool’s Metropolitan Cathedral, the largest cathedral in England. Together with the Anglican cathedral at the other end of Hope Street, it plays an important role in the life of the City of Liverpool and Merseyside.

This is our second Autumn Speaker meeting, where John Stoddern will give an interesting talk on the Anglican Cathedral of Liverpool. John is a Guide for the Anglican Cathedral which is one of two Cathedrals in the city.They are located either end of the aptly named Hope Street and are vastly different in architecture but both majestic and beautiful. The Anglican Cathedral is of the Anglican Diocese of Liverpool, built on St James’s Mount and is the seat of the Bishop of Liverpool.
