This is our second Autumn Speaker meeting, where John Stoddern will give an interesting talk on the Anglican Cathedral of Liverpool. John is a Guide for the Anglican Cathedral which is one of two Cathedrals in the city. They are located either end of the aptly named Hope Street and are vastly different in architecture but both majestic and beautiful. The Anglican Cathedral is of the Anglican Diocese of Liverpool, built on St James’s Mount and is the seat of the Bishop of Liverpool. The National Trust team at Formby Nature Reserve are helping to create habitats for Natterjack Toads
The National Trust team are working in partnership with Dynamic Dunescapes. Areas of overgrown vegetation are being removed and pools restored or even created. Natterjack toads are rare, the Sefton coastline being one of the few areas in the UK where they can be found. Due to their presence, the area has gained several international conservation designations.
Of course, the Sefton coast is also home to other endangered species. These include Sand Lizards and Northern Dune Tiger Beetles. We should also not forget Red Squirrels, who make their home at Formby.
