Car Parking changes at Formby NT

Car parking at Formby NT squirrel reserve has undergone some changes to improve the safety of the site and the experience of parking at Formby. The National Trust have introduced opening times and other changes at car parks which may affect your visit.

The changes include a height barrier at the entrance to Lifeboat Road car park, which restricts access to vehicles taller than 2.3m. High-sided vehicles, such as campervans and horseboxes, will have to park on an adjacent field at Lifeboat Road. The field is shut overnight and all remaining vehicles will be locked in. Overnight camping and parking is not permitted.

You can find full information about car parking at Formby NT on this page on the NT website.

Red Squirrel in Formby Nature Reserve

Formby Nature Reserve is a popular spot in Merseyside which attracts a lot of visitors all through the year. As you walk around the reserve it is possible to see red squirrels running around.

SoFA donate money to Formby, during 2022 we gave them £5000 towards the rejuvenation of Wicks lake. In the past we donated money for them to purchase new tools as well as £2000, which allowed the Rangers to purchase walkie talkies that helps them to keep in touch with each other.

Formby rangers arrange monthly guided walks for the public as well as interaction with local schools. If you fancy an informative walk at Formby you need to check their noticeboard and their social media sites.
