During 2021 SoFA was to celebrate a special birthday, we were 50 years old. Prior to Covid, the committee had started to plan various events to celebrate this milestone. Like everything due to lockdown this did not happen. We are pleased to announce that a birthday celebration has now been arranged for Wednesday 06 April 2022. Details of the event is in the SoFA Spring Magazine which is being distributed to members very soon.
Normally we organise monthly speaker meetings, held at the Royal Clifton Hotel in Southport. Since March 2021 we were holding speaker meetings via Zoom. In September 2021 Face to Face Speaker meetings were resumed. However, because the Royal Clifton shut its doors, due to Covid just before our December meetings, they were suspended yet again. As of 08 March 2022 we will hold our first ‘face to face’ event of this year. We will be entertained by the Wayfarers Chorus, at the Prince of Wales Hotel. Please see our events page for more information.
Twice a year we held Coffee Mornings for a more relaxed informal event, either at the United Reform Church in Formby or at the Royal Clifton Hotel.
As soon as lockdown was relaxed we resumed our usual activities and held a coffee morning in September 2021. A further Coffee morning has been arranged for May 2022. Our events page we will be updated and our members will receive information through our Spring magazine and via email.
We have members’ meals about two times a year; one in August and the other during December to celebrate Christmas.
Throughout the year we arrange regular daily outings to various National Trust and other locations, with coffee stops on the way. Members’ holidays are also planned and we hope that two of these will be going ahead during 2022. These holiday events are very popular and become booked up quickly.
To keep everyone connected we have commenced members’ Zoom meetings. Please see our Events Page for more details on the upcoming talks.
